Early screwball comedy from the director of 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Longfellow Deeds (the charismatic Gary Cooper) inherits his uncle's vast fortune and sets off to New York to move into his enormous mansion. But Deeds is a simple kind of fellow who doesn't really want $20 million, much to the delight of the public. But one man, news editor George Bancroft, is determined to prove that Deeds's innocent sincerity is false, and sends aggressive reporter Jean Arthur to try to discredit him. Excellent.
